Sep 25 HRchitect WebMingle Featured Enwisen; Next Up Is MyStaffingPro

September 26, 2009

Our weekly WebMingle is designed to give you some insight into the puzzling world of HR technology, discuss news from around the world that we find interesting, talk about upcoming events in our industry, and provide insightful interviews with people of our industry – who they are, what they do and why you should care. The WebMingle has become the most popular live weekly Internet show in the HR technology industry!

So what is a WebMingle? It is a meeting over the web where we do some business, socialize and yes, we mingle over the web. Thus, a WebMingle.

The 60-minute WebMingle on September 25th, the 37th in our WebMingle series, featured Barbara Levin, SVP Marketing and Customer Community with Enwisen. The HR Weasel didn’t make it this week but sort of participated via Twitter. Barbara has great knowledge and passion around HR Service Delivery and we touched on a number of issues related to that including:

  • Why so many employers are looking for a new model for HR Service Delivery
  • What model is getting the most traction at this time
  • What are the technology components required for this “multi tier” approach
  • What employers can do now to move in this direction
  • Some of the ways in which Enwisen is seeing this model pay-off in terms of ROI
  • Whether this approach will still be relevant after the economy picks up
  • The difference between HR Shared Services and HR Service Delivery
  • …and more

We also had another attempted special guest appearance in our studios from the HR Weasel, who has now become a regular on our show. His research led him to some of Enwisen’s customers and one in particular that he was interested in was Hershey. Well he sent us a message on Twitter at #WebMingle that he was getting some Hershey bars at the store and then headed to the studio. Next thing we know he tweeted again that he was being detained by the police. Not sure exactly what happened with the HR Weasel, the Hershey bars and the police but we hope he is ok. We certainly look forward to his visit on future episodes.

So what is a WebMingle? It is a meeting over the web where we do some business, socialize and yes, we mingle over the web. Thus, a WebMingle.

The 60-minute WebMingle on September 18th, the 36th in our WebMingle series, featured Jeremy Shapiro, SVP with Hodes iQ. It also featured another fun-filled appearance by the HR Weasel (see below). Sep 4 HRchitect WebMingle Featured Avature; Next Up Is Jobs2Web

September 4, 2009

Our weekly web mingle is designed to give you some insight into the puzzling world of HR technology, discuss news from around the world that we find interesting, talk about upcoming events in our industry, and provide insightful interviews with people of our industry – who they are, what they do and why you should care. The WebMingle has become the most popular live weekly Internet show in the HR technology industry!

So what is a WebMingle? It is a meeting over the web where we do some business, socialize and yes, we mingle over the web. Thus, a WebMingle.

The 60-minute WebMingle on September 4th, the 34th in our WebMingle series, featured Dimitri Boylan, CEO of Avature. It also featured another entertaining appearance by the HR Weasel (see below). It was another fantastic WebMingle as Dimitri has tremendous knowledge and fantastic insight into the current and future world of recruiting. We touched on a number of issues related to that including:

  • What Dimitri believes will be the next paradigm shift for recruiting
  • Types of customers using Recruiting CRM, including large RPO firms
  • How CRM fits into a recruiting strategy around efforts to implement talent pooling/pipelining and talent communities
  • What the future for CRM in the recruiting space looks like
  • Expansion plans for Avature and what the company will look like years down the road
  • Thoughts around cloud computing
  • What three things Dimitri would do if he had to run a corporate recruiting function
  • …and more

We also had another special guest appearance in our studios from the HR Weasel, who is quickly becoming a regular on our show. As always, I told him to do a little research on our guest and their company before coming in, which he apparently did. He was having trouble creating a new Avatar and thought that Dimitri could help with that. Then he asked about the upcoming Sci-Fi movie called Avatar. We had some fun with the weasel letting him know that an Avatar and Avature, the company we were talking with, are different. There is no doubt that we will continue to hear from him on future episodes.

Avoiding Implementation Costs That End Up Higher Than Estimates – The Secret Ingredient? Pre-Implementation Planning

September 3, 2009

How many times have you had a software vendor provide “concrete” pricing although the vendor has not even scoped the project? There are many factors that need to be considered in an implementation, including resource availability, system integration, training, change management, etc.

If you are getting numbers from vendors without proper scoping, all that does is lead you, the prospect, to believe it is a good number…but it may potentially come around to bite you later on. And it happens far more than you would expect!

HRchitect has implemented HR and talent management systems for hundreds of companies of all sizes and industries, and knows that ultimately you may end up paying more in the long run because the vendor will nickel and dime you at every opportunity.

I’m not saying this to bash vendors but rather arm you with the information you need to get more accurate implementation numbers from a vendor the first time and avoid having to later clean up a mess, deal with the mistrust aftermath, and keep you from having to find more budget to finish items you thought you were getting in the first place.

Here’s a link to a blog posted on August 5, 2009 about Pre-Implementation Planning. If you do nothing else, talk to us first and we can save you a lot of potential heartache!

Visit www.HRchitect.com for more information.
