April 15 HRchitect WebMingle Featured TEDS; Next Up is HumCap

April 19, 2010

Our weekly WebMingle is designed to give you some insight into the puzzling world of HR technology, discuss news from around the world that we find interesting, talk about upcoming events in our industry, and provide insightful interviews with people of our industry – who they are, what they do and why you should care. The WebMingle has become the most popular live weekly Internet show in the HR technology industry! It has truly redefined how people get information about vendors, trends and really anything related to HR technology.

So what is a WebMingle? It is a meeting over the web where we do some business, socialize and yes, we mingle over the web. Thus, a WebMingle.

The 50-minute WebMingle on April 15th, the 57th show in our WebMingle series, featured Joe Ellis, President and CEO of TEDS. Joe coined the term “People Resource Planning” and we spent time discussing that concept, how it differs from Talent Management, and more insight from Joe’s long tenure in the Talent Management space. We discussed:

  • What People Resource Planning is all about
  • How People Resource Planning differs from Talent Management
  • TEDS hitting 20 years in 2009
  • The TEDS Consortium
  • What led to the development of the first true LMS
  • The importance of integration in Talent Management
  • …and so much more

About TEDS

TEDS provides companies the capability to integrate their processes through a fully integrated talent management system that consists of a single user interface, application, and database. It is based on the People Resource Planning™ (PRP) concept coined by TEDS’ Founder and CEO, Joe Ellis. PRP is the optimization of development, performance and deployment of an organization’s human capital to achieve the desired business outcome in the shortest amount of time and at the least cost. TEDS’ fully integrated suite includes: Talent Acquisition and Staffing, Compensation Management, Succession Management, Workforce Management, Competency Management, Performance Management, and Learning Management and Development.

About Joe Ellis, President and CEO of TEDS

In 1989 Joe coined the concept of People Resource Planning™, which led to produce the first Learning Management System installed in 1990 for a Fortune 500 company with 150,000 people in 11 countries. Afterwards, Joe added six additional modules to create the most robust integrated Talent Management platform.

Aug 14 HRchitect WebMingle Featured Saba, Next Up is Verifications, Inc.

August 14, 2009

Our weekly web mingle is designed to give you some insight into the puzzling world of HR technology, discuss news from around the world that we find interesting, talk about upcoming events in our industry, and provide insightful interviews with people of our industry – who they are, what they do and why you should care. The WebMingle has become the most popular live weekly Internet show in the HR technology industry!

So what is a WebMingle? It is a meeting over the web where we do some business, socialize and yes, we mingle over the web. Thus, a WebMingle.

The 60-minute WebMingle on August 14th, the 31st in our WebMingle series, featured A. G. Lambert, VP of Marketing with Saba. It also featured another appearance by the HR Weasel (see below). It was another great WebMingle as A. G. has fantastic insight into learning, talent management, social networking, and more. We touched on a number of issues related to that including:

  • How the current economy is impacting the talent management space
  • Saba started in the learning space and how that has helped them address the broader talent management space
  • The value of integrating learning with performance and talent management processes
  • How social software and collaboration should be aligned with HR and learning organizations
  • Discussion around some of the great customer stories that Saba has
  • What users can expect at the annual user’s conference in October
  • Saba’s focus on customer service
  • What to expect in the future from Saba and what the market landscape might look like
  • …and more

We also had a special guest appearance in our studios from the HR Weasel. As you know, we always encourage people to call-in or visit our studios during the show. Since we share an office building with other tenants, there has been this person who has been bugging me in the hallway for weeks to get on the show since he wants to be on the radio. I told him to do a little research on our guest and their company before coming in, which he apparently did. Unfortunately he thought we were talking to Saab, the car company, instead of Saba. It made for an interesting conversation. I’m sure we will hear from him again next week.

About Saba

Founded in 1997, Saba (NASDAQ: SABA) is the premier global provider of strategic Human Capital Management (HCM) software and services. Saba’s people management solutions are used by more than 1,300 organizations and over 17 million end-users worldwide. Saba’s solutions increase organizational performance by aligning workforce goals with organizational strategy; developing, managing, and rewarding their people; and improving collaboration. Saba product offerings address all aspects of strategic HCM and are available both on-premise and OnDemand (www.saba.com/products).

About A.G. Lambert, Vice President of Marketing for Saba

A.G.. Lambert is responsible for Saba’s corporate marketing initiatives. Lambert joined Saba in January 2007 as the company’s Vice President, Product Marketing, where he drove the launch of new products and the success of Saba’s solutions in the marketplace. He brings 15 years of corporate and product marketing experience to Saba from his work at leading technology companies, which include Infor, Extensity, Autodesk and Microsoft.  Lambert holds an MBA from the University of California Berkeley, Haas School of Business and an undergraduate degree in Physics and English Literature from Washington University in St. Louis.

If you missed this past week’s WebMingle, or any of our past WebMingles, please visit our web site or www.HRWebMingle.com. You will see a complete list of upcoming guests and will be able to listen to past shows.

Our next WebMingle will take place on August 21 with Samantha Hanson, EVP of Products and People with Verifications, Inc., an onboarding and background screening organization. We look forward to welcoming Samantha to the HRchitect WebMingle next week.

We hope to have you join us!

HRchitect’s Beauty Pageant Webinar Series Continues This Friday with Time & Attendance Systems

June 3, 2009

The HRchitect beauty pageant series of webinars has become the buzz of the industry. This series of webinars covers a different area of HR technology with each event. The concept allows attendees to see presentations from up to five leading vendors in a fun and informative format where the audience votes on the winner at the conclusion. In November, iCIMS won the Talent Acquisitions Systems pageant and Cornerstone OnDemand won the Talent Management Systems pageant. Then in December, GeoLearning won the Learning Management Systems pageant. In January, we had our Mid-Market Talent Acquisitions Systems pageant and iCIMS was crowned the winner and our Onboarding pageant where SilkRoad was the winner. In February we covered Employee Performance Management where SumTotal Systems won and then mid-market HRIS where Spectrum HR was the winner. In March it was all about Workforce Planning Systems and Infohrm walked away with the crown. The last beauty pageant took place in April where Workstream walked away with the Compensation Systems crown.

To view any of these past pageants, please visit the beauty pageant part of our website. After this week’s pageant, the beauty pageants will take a few month hiatus and come back in August. We have a full schedule of 2009 beauty pageants on our site and several vendors have asked that we create beauty pageants around additional topics, which we are currently in the process of scheduling.

The next exciting pageant, the tenth in the series, will be on Time & Attendance Systems and will take place this Friday, June 5. The participants will be top vendors in this space, Associated Time, CyberShift, Legiant, and Nova.

The 90-minute webinar agendas will look like this:

Intro by HRchitect

Overview of the marketplace by HRchitect

Short vendor presentations (vendor order will be determine at random)

Q&A of vendors from the audience

Crowning of the Winner

Wrap-up

The sessions are moderated by Matt Lafata, VP of Sales & Marketing for HRchitect.

HRchitect developed a format to help guide each vendor with an outline of what should be covered during each portion of the pageant.  Since we have billed this as a beauty pageant, we tried to come up with pageant categories for vendors to loosely follow. Of course each vendor is free to follow their own format as this is simply a guideline:

Evening gown – To start off each portion, we are asking the vendor to come out in their best ‘outfit’ – corporate overview, history, specific identity, financial viability, marquee clients, leadership team, etc. This will be the grand entrance.

Swimsuit – Here the vendors will show some skin in this portion – usability, configurability, etc.

Talent – This portion will cover functionality, technology/integration, global ability, etc.

Interview – This will be the Q & A section from the audience.

These beauty pageants are designed to give the audience a quick overview of the leading vendors and we are looking for creativity in presentations. Some of the past participants have gotten extremely creative in their presentations and we thank them for their time and efforts in doing this.

Watch this blog for updates and visit http://hrchitect.com/News/Pageant for a listing of upcoming HRchitect Beauty Pageants and to register so you won’t be left puzzled by HR Technology!
